Maintenance Options: Aviaries

1) Local - Every 8 days - generally within 130 miles of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

We visit your site 8 days and perform the following services:

  • Disinfect dirty food dishes, waterers, treat cups (we use an excellent iodine - based solution for this purpose)

  • Clean all branches, flowers, toys

  • Remove bottom tray, carefully dump and replace litter; sanitize tray

  • Clean and polish acrylic 

  • Restock seed, millet and provide treats

  • Clean ventilation fan

  • Perform routine bird maintenance (nail and beak clipping, wing clipping)

  • Polish wood as required 

  • Check lighting system

We specialize in lovebird breeding programs!! Finch and Cockatiels can be setup for breeding upon request and commitment of interested staff.

2) Local Modified - 1-2 times per month - generally within 150 miles of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

  • Interim cleanings must be performed by on-site staff.

  • Same basic cleaning and supply replenishing routine as 8 - day cleaning

3) Quarterly Services (every 90 days) Our remote service plan generally within 400 miles of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

With an eye to getting between and behind the corners, tops and bottoms of your aviary unit-

Birds are removed from the aviary unit.

  • Disinfect dirty food dishes, waterers, treat cups (we use an excellent iodine based solution for this purpose; bleach is used on many occasions)

  • All branches and flowers, internal or external or internal removed and cleaned/dusted.

  • Clean and soak all branches, flowers, toys

  • Remove bottom tray, carefully dump and replace litter; sanitize tray

  • Remove acrylic trim pieces and back and front acrylic as needed

  • Vacuum and clean top grate

  • Clean and polish acrylic; repair scratches

  • Repair any damage (cracks, chips, scratches, etc.) to acrylic and wood.

  • Preventative maintenance is the key to the longevity of the beauty of your aviary unit

  • Restock seed, millet and provide treats for a 90 days period.  We remove un-used supplies.

  • Removal of ventilation fan and box for cleaning

  • Perform routine bird maintenance (nail and beak clipping, wing clipping)

  • Polish wood as required

  • Check lighting system

Remote support of breeding programs.  Bird care staff that is unfamiliar with the aspects of breeding their birds find that having a quick source of information invaluable to their success with this activity.


Aquariums

Robin's Nest Aviaries, Inc., offers complete aquarium maintenance service.  We "rescue" existing tanks, as well as establish new, both custom and "off-the-shelf."

For those accounts also having an aviary service contract, we access the aquarium every 8 days; other we service 1-2 times monthly.

Protocol:

  • Check water chemistry

  • Remove algae from tank

  • Partial water change

  • Service filter; replacing media as required

  • Check fish health; take any action necessary

  • Work with on-site personnel to educate them in fish feeding routines, etc.,

  • Check Timer - lighting is a major issue in health and appearance of your aquarium
